Hi, there has been 2 cases confirmed near me (Radcliffe, Manchester).
I noticed the vets for pets website lets concerned owners search with their postcode to find out of cases in their area with 20m radius. It also lists where the dogs are walked so I can avoid those areas.
When a case has been confirmed, does anyone go to the area and take samples of soil, trees, grasses etc? Is information taken as to whether the dog is on or off lead, what breed the dog is (terriers/spaniels etc would be more likely to stray from paths into trees, bushes etc). I’d just like to know the procedure and research done once an area has been confirmed? Thanks -
I regret that nobody systematically goes to areas in which a dog with confirmed Alabama Rot was walked, to take soil and plant samples etc.
It is up to the vet to voluntarily inform Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists of case details (off/on lead, breed etc).
AlabamaRot.co.uk has collated details of cases, such as they are known, in our confirmed and all cases maps:

Hello Chris
Our dog died on Aug 14th 2017 with ‘suspected’ Alabama Rot. His symptoms and clinical presentation were text book. The veterinary hospital where he died couldn’t confirm his diagnosis because they said they hadn’t taken tissue samples from him, but suspected this was the cause of his illness.
We were on holiday in Cumbria (Ulswater area) with our dog when he became unwell. We had been there for ten days when I noticed the lesion on his back left lower leg. I have kept a diary of where we were on each day for the 10 days leading up to this. Would this information be of use to you? We are keen to contribute in highlighting areas of woodland where he may have caught it, so that it can be added to your map.
Your sincerely, Kevin & Niki Day -
Hello Kevin,
So so sorry to hear of your dog dying from suspected Alabama Rot. Which veterinary hospital confirmed his suspected diagnosis?
If you can provide details of where he walked, up to a month before contracting Alabama Rot, I’ll add this to the map. Send the info to chris.street@alabamarot.co.uk
Many thanks.

Hi l wanted to know if there had been any cases of rot where dogs are regularly walked on beaches as opposed to Fields/parks/forests etc?
-
Few Alabama Rot cases have been reported where a dog was walked exclusively on beaches.
